The MOMS Club® of the Montachusett Region hosts weekly playgroups at member homes or, weather permitting, area parks. Playgroups are an important part of our Club. While our children learn how to play together, the moms can share joys, concerns, successes, ask questions and most importantly, make new friends!
Playgroups are organized by the ages of our children, but it is up to each member to decide which playgroup best meets her needs. Siblings are always welcome in any of the playgroups and quite a few members attend more than one playgroup.
We currently have the following playgroups:
Babies (0-18 months) Steppers/L'il Kids (1-3 years old) Big Kids (3-4 years old)
Activities vary from month to month. Members choose the activities that will work for their families. A monthly newsletter is e-mailed or mailed to each member with each month's schedule. Children are invited to at all MOMS Club® events with the exception of the monthly MOMS Night Out, though nursing babies are always welcome at those too. Following are the types of activities that we do:
Typical Monthly Activities:
MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP CIRCLE: Monthly membership circles are open to all current and prospective members. Each month the member moms meet at a local church. We discuss upcoming events, share ideas for next month, and often have speakers share about topics relative to at-home moms.
PARK PLAYDATES: While the weather is nice, we meet often at area parks to let the kids play and the moms hang out.
FIELD TRIPS: We take many field trips during the year including visits to Davis Farmland for summer fun, Red Apple Farm for apple and blueberry picking and Overlook Farm for a yummy pancake breakfast.
TOURS: Several tours are scheduled throughout the year including tours of Petco, Hannafords, and one of our local fire stations.
PARTIES: These happen at various times throughout the year. We have a Holiday Party (complete with a visit from Santa!) as well as a super fun end of the year party in June.
MOMS Night Out: Once per month, we get together in the evening without the kids and let our hair down. If need be, children may attend with moms. We don't want anybody to miss the fun due to lack of child care.
COMMUNITY EVENTS: We often take advantage of library story times, concerts and other free events in the community.
