Fifth Annual Halloween Parade – October 2009, a community service project.  Children were dressed up in Halloween Costumes and brought smiles to the Residents at Wachusett Manor Nursing Home in Gardner, MA.  This activity begins by contacting the activities director at the Nursing Home in early September.  A date is chosen during Halloween week.  The nursing home provides the treats for the children which are handed out by the residents during the “parade”.  They also provide a room for our group to have a small “party” afterwards.  We can decorate the space and bring in our own snacks, lunches.  A thank you is sent to the nursing home after the event.

Holiday Cards to Nursing Home Residents, December 2009, The children decorated holiday greeting cards at membership circle and they were delivered to residents at Wachusett Manor Nursing Home in Gardner, MA.

Fifth Annual Adopt-A-Family Holiday Service Project – December 2009, our group coordinates with North Central Human Services to get the names / ages of local individuals and families in need.  This year our MOMS helped 6 families in need with an overwhelming 26 MOMS participating by purchasing gifts. Other MOMS helped by donating wrapping supplies and their time wrapping the gifts.

White Ribbon Alliance Awareness – January 2010, During our January membership circle, we discussed the white ribbon alliance; who they are, what their mission is and what it meant to us.  White ribbons were passed out.  The main goal of this service project was to raise awareness of the worldwide maternal death issue and what we can do to help. http://www.whiteribbonalliance.org

Gardner CAC Food Drive – February 2010, To serve our local food pantry, MOMS were given the wish-list for pantry items and responded greatly by filling 4 large boxes with items.  We also wanted to do something a little different so we made up “birthday baskets” for the local food pantry filled with cake mix, frosting, birthday candles and party decorations.

Friendship Network for Children, Inc. 50 / 50 Raffle – April - May 2010, April is autism awareness month so we decided to help out a local non-profit that works with children on the autism spectrum.  We obtained a permit and sold 50 / 50 Raffle tickets for $2 each.  Half of the ticket sales went to the winner and half to the Friendship Network for Children, Inc.  At our May Board meeting the winning ticket was drawn.

American Cancer Society Relay for Life – June 2010, - For the second year, the Montachusett MOMS Club participated in the Greater Gardner Relay for Life.  Our team “MOMS on Track” had 14 members.  We held a fundraiser night at the Firehouse Pub in Ashburnham in which a portion of that night’s proceeds went to our team fundraising efforts.  We also had campsite fundraisers and received many donations from friends and family.  Our team was able to fundraise $10,709.95!

Maternity Closet - Our chapter runs our Maternity Closet selling gently used maternity clothing donated by our members for $2 per article to raise money for the Mother-to-Mother fund of the International Moms Club. The Mother-to-Mother fund is our International MOMS Club charity to help members who experience devastating financial and natural disasters. Each chapter helps to donate for this important cause.  The Mother-to-Mother fund is MOMS offering MOMS support to its fullest!
